The two Good Morning America co-anchors, who have shared the show’s desk since December 2009, finally have a date, more than 16 months after the honor was first announced. That puts the morning show’s full front row on Hollywood Boulevard. Their fellow co-host Michael Strahan collected his own star in 2023. “It’s just now sinking in” The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce named the pair on July 2, 2025, as part of a 2026 class of 35 entertainment professionals chosen by the Walk of Fame Selection Committee. Roberts answered a day later in a video posted to the show’s Instagram account. “It’s just now sinking in. The Hollywood Walk of Fame! Oh my goodness. I am incredibly honored — and to be going with George! A double ceremony. It means so much. I gotta tell you — this little girl from Mississippi says thank you to all.” Fans flooded the comments under the original announcement post with congratulations, one calling them “the best morning crew.” From the sports desk to the star Roberts’s road to Hollywood started a long way from it. She grew up in Pass Christian, Mississippi, and was a basketball standout at Southeastern Louisiana University, finishing with 1,446 career points and 1,034 rebounds. She spent 15 years at ESPN, where she became the first woman to co-host NFL Primetime, before moving full-time into morning television. Stephanopoulos took a different route. He came to the network in 1997 as an analyst on This Week, the Sunday program he would later host, before adding the morning co-anchor chair. When he joined Roberts as co-anchor in late 2009, the show was chasing a rival that had owned the top of the weekly morning ratings for 16 years. By April 2012 their program was number one again. A 31-year timeline in five dates Here is how Roberts’s run with the show lines up against the star she will receive next week: June 1995: Roberts starts as a featured reporter on the program while still at ESPN. 2005: She is promoted to co-anchor. December 2009: Stephanopoulos joins her as co-anchor. July 2, 2025: The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce names both to the 2026 class. November 5, 2026: The joint unveiling. By our count, that is 31 years and five months between Roberts’s first report for the show and her star, and almost 17 years of the Roberts-Stephanopoulos partnership. The Walk honor joins a long shelf for Roberts. She was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012, won a Peabody Award for the way the program chronicled her treatment for myelodysplastic syndrome, received the Arthur Ashe Courage Award in 2013 and was named a Disney Legend in 2019. In 2014 she launched her own company, Rock’n Robin Productions. Why a shared ceremony is unusual Of the 35 people in the 2026 class, only these two share an unveiling, which makes November 5 as much a celebration of a 17-year on-air partnership as of two separate careers. Roberts turns 66 on November 23, eighteen days after the unveiling.
