As soon as the Supreme Court decided to allow the Jagannath committee to organize Rath Yatra, the temple committee resumed preparation for Sri Jagannath Rath Yatra which is all set to start from 23rd June 2020, Tuesday. The schedule has also been released. The Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice S A Bobde allowed the Centre and state government to organize Rath Yatra in Puri. Certain restrictions and health guidelines in views of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic ensure that the situation does not worsen.
Everyone has to be tested for COVID-19, and those are found to be negative to be allowed to participate. The order came after several petitions filed by individuals and organizations seeking the annual sojourn of Lord Jagannath. After the Supreme Court’s order on rath yatra, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Pattnaik tweeted in one line, he wrote, Jai Jagannath. CM Naveen Pattnaik also thanked the Supreme Court for allowing the rath yatra and central government to cooperate on the matter.
Odisha Chief Secretary Asit Kumar Tripathy also expressed confidence, and said, the festival will be organised easily without devotees. Odisha CM also reviewed the arrangements shortly.
The Odisha government has sealed all the entry points to Puri. After the decision comes from the Supreme Court, the complete shutdown will be active in Odisha’s Puri from 9 pm until 2 pm tomorrow.
