"articleBody": "The Isley Brothers dropped a two-minute behind-the-scenes clip from their “The Plug” shoot with 2 Chainz on Saturday, October 31, and the official video it belongs to has already pulled in about 23 million views on the group’s channel. The new upload, posted on the band’s own YouTube account, runs 117 seconds and had 8,942 views when we checked it on Monday, November 2. It is a small number next to the main video, but it is the first fresh footage of Ronald Isley and the Atlanta rapper together to surface since 2 Chainz returned the favor on his own record last year. What the clip is This is set footage, not a new song. The camera follows the “The Plug” shoot: Ronald Isley in his usual tailored look, 2 Chainz loose and joking between takes, the crew resetting lights. The caption points fans to the group’s album Make Me Say It Again, Girl, which is where the track lives. That album came out on September 30, 2022, and its title song, a duet with Beyoncé, reached the top ten of the US R&B airplay chart and number one on the adult R&B chart. “The Plug” was a later single from the same project; it peaked at number 24 on the adult R&B airplay chart in 2023. A collaboration that ran both ways Here is the part the clip does not say out loud. In 2025 the pairing flipped: 2 Chainz put Ronald Isley and the Isley Brothers on “The ATL Experience,” a track from his project Red Clay. So the behind-the-scenes footage lands at the end of a two-way exchange, with the veteran soul singer guesting for the rapper after the rapper guested for him. Both men have had a busy stretch. 2 Chainz walked away from Def Jam in October 2024 after 22 years, calling himself a free agent, and in February 2025 he released Life Is Beautiful with Larry June and the Alchemist. The Isley Brothers, meanwhile, were set to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in January 2026, 67 years after “Shout” first put them on the Hot 100. Why a rapper and a Cincinnati soul group fit The Isleys have been hip hop’s favorite record crate for three decades. Ice Cube built “It Was a Good Day” on “Footsteps in the Dark” in 1993; the Notorious B.I.G. used “Between the Sheets” for “Big Poppa” a year later. Ronald Isley himself has sung on records by Nas, 2Pac, Kendrick Lamar and UGK. A 2 Chainz feature is less a stunt than the next line in a long list. The critique Does the clip earn its own upload? Partly. It is well shot and the chemistry reads as real, but at under two minutes it is a teaser for a video most fans have already seen, and the group has not said whether more footage, or a new song, follows. Nothing in the clip is staged or manipulated; it is plain set footage. The timing is the tell. With a Walk of Fame star behind them and a verse on a 2 Chainz record in the rear-view mirror, the Isleys are reminding a younger audience that the 1954 vocal group is still trading bars with Atlanta. The main “The Plug” video sits at roughly 23 million views; the new clip has a long way to climb.
