On Monday, October 26, the R&B singer posted a 10-slide Instagram carousel dressed as “hot Meg Griffin,” the glamorous alternate-universe take on the most picked-on member of the Family Guy household. Then she closed the loop. The same day she quote-posted an X user who wrote back on August 9, “yall treat chloe bailey like meg griffin omg,” and added two words of her own: “aw shucks.” aw shucks https://t.co/Dd2GIFXT6T pic.twitter.com/DA3IrrYGpY — Chlöe (@ChloeBailey) October 26, 2026 That reply had passed 722,000 views when we checked it on the evening of October 27 (India time). The Instagram carousel was even bigger, with more than 423,000 likes in its first day. From meme to costume in 78 days The timing is part of the fun. Count it out: 22 days left in August after the 9th, 30 in September and 26 in October adds up to 78 days between the original post and Bailey’s answer. She let the comparison sit for nearly three months, then saved her response for Halloween week. Why does the joke land? Meg, voiced by Mila Kunis since the show’s second season, has been the Griffin family’s punching bag since the series pilot aired on January 31, 1999. Creator Seth MacFarlane’s sitcom built years of gags around her being ignored or brushed off by her own relatives, with her father’s “Shut up, Meg” as the running line. Fans who posted the comparison were pointing at the volume of online criticism Bailey has absorbed since going solo, and setting it beside a cartoon character who can never catch a break. Bailey’s answer was not to argue. She leaned in, turned the insult into a look, and let the comments section do the rest. The look, piece by piece Every Meg signature made the cut, just turned up several notches: Up top: Meg’s trademark pink beanie in a magenta knit, plus thin round specs A satin choker and strapless top, both in hot pink Low-slung denim over pointed silver boots that reach the knee Long red hair falling past her shoulders, over her locs The carousel mixed portraits and walking shots with screenshots of the cartoon Meg, so followers could compare the two side by side. Her caption was short: “hot Meg Griffin,” followed by a nerd-face emoji and #happyhalloween. SZA and Lauren Jauregui weigh in The celebrity replies piled up fast. SZA left the most-liked of them: “Sooo cutie patoootie,” which had drawn more than 4,600 likes of its own when we looked. Lauren Jauregui wrote “Love thisss,” and another account added, “love this one! You look great!” Ordinary fans went further, with one calling the whole thing “Another Halloween slay!” and others admitting they were laughing out loud at the commitment. Where Bailey’s music stands The costume lands during a busy year. Bailey, 28, first broke through alongside her sister Halle as the duo Chloe x Halle, signed to Beyoncé’s Parkwood Entertainment in 2015. Her solo debut single, the Murda Beatz-produced “Have Mercy,” went platinum in the US after its 2021 release. She followed it with the albums In Pieces in March 2023 and Trouble in Paradise in August 2024, and this June she released the mixtape Resurrection with Timbaland. She also won an NAACP Image Award for her lead role in the gospel comedy Praise This. Halloween itself is still five days away from the Monday reveal, and Bailey has a habit of stacking more than one costume per season. If she keeps to that pattern, a second look could arrive before Saturday, October 31.
